Our Story

Bearing Precious Seed is a Bible printing ministry of Berean Baptist Church known as BPS.

In 1977, BPS began under the ministry of Pastor Bill Gindlesperger and Printer Vern Vaughan.

Currently, we print the New Testament books of John and Romans in over 20 different languages. We send these to missionaries throughout the world. 

Local churches and ministries also purchase the Bibles at a low cost and personalize the covers for promotion, visitation, and outreach.

Weekly volunteers come to the print shop and help collate, bind, and assemble the Bibles.

Today, BPS is led by missionaries Raymond Smith and Bill Chilton.

Our Costs

We work hard to keep our costs low and our Bibles affordable.

  • New Testaments $1.10 each + shipping
  • John & Romans $0.50 each + shipping
  • 800 Pound Paper Roll $500

Each roll of paper produces about 1,700 New Testaments and 6,000 John & Romans.

I was born in Southern Indiana. in 1940, our family moved to Indianapolis. My wife Dee, was born and raised in Indianapolis. We both accepted Christ in our teens. We met while I was home on leave from the Navy in December 1955. We were married in August 1957. During a revival meeting in 1963, the Lord called us into full-time service. After graduating from Indiana Baptist College, I pastored for 23 years. During a Missions Conference in 1989, the Lord spoke to our hearts about full-time mission work. For the past 28 years, we have been with Bearing Precious Seed at Berean Baptist Church in Greenwood, IN. representing the ministry and helping in the printing of God’s Word. During this time, I had the privilege to make 40 trips to Mexico seeing hundreds receive the Lord as their personal Savior and providing pastors and missionaries with thousands of Spanish Scriptures.

In addition to the hundreds of volunteers and financial supporters that help make this ministry possible, we also have two men who help head up BPS.
